He died on 15 Mar 1947 in Newport, Jackson County, Arkansas.
His wife was Margery Ella Watson, who he married on 26 APR 1893 in Episcopal Church, Newport, Arkansas. Their three known children were Ben Terry (1894-1894), Robert T (1895-1895) and Beryl Owen (1896-1896).

Robert Terry Simmons was a very firey and energentic man. He owned a liquor store on Main Street in Newport Arkansas.
Robert was a well-known business and political figure of Jackson County, Arkansas. He fought in political issues in the turbulent days of Jackson Co. When Newport was made a city, Bob was the first Chief of Police. He also served as a tax assessor of ten years. While deputy sheriff for the county, he was responsible for the manhunt and capture of the robbers of the Oliphant train robbery.
Bob was a member of the Episcopal Church where he married in 1893.
Bob loved cats and was often seen walking around town with cats on his shoulders.
