The daughter of John W. and Sarah P. (McGuire) Gray, Mary married Thomas Edward York December 17, 1897 in Athens, Alabama; this union produced two children: Leslie and Leon. She moved with her family to Fort Worth, Texas in 1902, and moved again to Cushing, Oklahoma in 1923. She was a Methodist.

From the "Stillwater News-Press", Stillwater, OK, Thursday, July 21, 1949, page 2, col. 5, trans. Jan Payne:

"Mrs. T.E. York Dies

Mrs. T.E. York of Cushing, died Wednesday night at the Cushing hospital. Services will be held at the Cushing Methodist church at 3 p.m. Friday. She is survived by her husband and her son, L.J. York, 221 Kings highway."

The son of Andrew Jackson and Mary Ann (Lentz) York, Thomas was the 7th of 8 children. He married Mary Lillian Gray December 17, 1897 in Athens, Alabama. This union produced two children: Leslie and Leon.

"Thomas E. York Dies in Hospital

Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Davis Funeral home in Cushing for Thomas E. York, 87, 614 Knoblock st. and lately of the Sunnyside nursing home, who died Saturday in Stillwater Municipal hospital.

Interment will be at Fairlawn cemetery, Cushing, under the direction of the funeral home.

Thomas E. York was born on Feb. 21, 1870, at Athens, Ala., son of Andrew J. and Mary Lentz York. He was married to Mary Lillian Gray in Athens. They came to Fort Worth, Texas, in 1902 and in 1923 came to Cushing where he was engaged in the grocery business until his retirement in 1950. His wife preceded him in death on July 24, 1949. He has lived in Stillwater the past seven years and was a member of the Methodist church.

He is survived by his son, Leon York, 221 S. Kings highway, another son having preceded him in death. There also are six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren."

The son of Thomas Edward and Mary Lillian (Gray) York, Leslie married Grace Rothell on May 6, 1921 in Fort Worth; this union produced two children: Leslie Gene and Nina. In religion, he was a Methodist. He worked as a bank bookkeeper, and on his free time sang bass in a quartet. He died at the young age of 31 in Dallas of pneumonia.
