He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Jane Latham, who he married on 13 NOV 1823 in Todd County, Kentucky. Their only known child was Thompson Ewing (1828-1910).

His second wife was Sarah Ann Shelton, who he married on 14 FEB 1853 in Todd County, Kentucky. They had no known children.
