A. N. (Uncle Andy) Morris, who died at his home near Center City last week, was one of the oldest residents of this section. He was born Dec. 6, 1838, near Venzon, Indiana, and came to Texas in 1854 and settled near Waco. A few years later he moved to what is now Mills county and has resided here for over fifty years. When he moved here there were very few while settlers in this section. He served as Texas Ranger and as a [Confederate] soldier during the civil war.

Mr. Morris died at his home at Center City at 8:15, Sunday night, Nov. 27, 1921, after being sick since July. He was buried at Center City cemetery at three o'clock the following Monday. Rev McKinney, his past having charge of the services.

Mr. Morris was first married to Sarah Ann Long in 1866, and to this union were born five children. He was later married to Mrs. Eliza Baldwin in June 1877, and seven children were born to them, all of whom are now living.

He leaves a wife and the following children: Bud Morris, Skiatook, Okla.; Mrs. Rebecca Aldridge, Citra, Okla.; Mrs. Mary Yates, Citra, Okla.; Bill Morris, Orange, Texas; Mrs. Arminda Nicholson, Center City; Lack McMillen, Brady; Misses Tennie Morris, Center City; Nettie Morris, Center City; Emma Morris, Center City; Mattie Mason, Center City; Harvey Morris, Goldthwaite, Johnnie Howell, Center City. Besides these he leaves one brother, Dave Morris of near Ratler, and one sister, Mrs. Rebecca Langford, near center City.

The Eagle joins with their many friends in this section in expressing sympathy.
