Notes

Note 1

Francis deWolf Theobald (March 11, 1879 – March 13, 1930. Died in Baltimore) married Edna Chatard Dulany (March 11, 1878 – June 27, 1964. Died in Baltimore) on November 2, 1901. Married by Rev. Woolsey Hodge, Rector of The Church of the Ascension in Philadephia, PA. Protestant Episcopal Church. Witnesses were Mildred Aspinwall Hodge and Louisa B. Hodge. (Have marriage certificate.)

Edna Chatard Dulany (known in the family as “Teddie”) was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Mason Dulany. She was a collateral descendant of Robert Morris , signer of the D. of I., and of the first 2 Episcopal bishops in the U.S.

Edna Dulany Theobald (my great-grandmother) was the daughter of John Mason Dulany and Emily Chatard Higginbotham Dulany. Emily Chatard Higginbotham Dulany’s mother was named Frances Claggett, whose Claggett husband (I don’t, at the moment, know his first name) was a lineal descendant of Thomas John Claggett, the first Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland and the first bishop of the Episcopal Church to have been consecrated on U.S. soil. (SEE: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_John_Claggett )

Francis deWolf Theobald (known in the family as “Dear De”) and wife lived in Baltimore City, MD. They had one child: Nancy deWolf Theobald born January 19, 1904.
