Jesse was born on 17 Apr 1848 in White County, Georgia, the son of Thomas Reid Lumsden and Sophronia Antoinette Richardson.

He died on 15 Aug 1933 in White County, Georgia.

His wife was Lusanna Nacoochee Williams, who he married on 23 DEC 1873. The place has not been found. Their two known children were Robert Grier (1889-1951) and Walter Branhan (1876-1973).
