Simmons Genealogy from Leigh Ann Mendenhall
Hello Simmons cousins, it's Leigh Ann Bailey Mendenhall. I didn't know if you two are aware or even interested but National Geographic has a Genome project to tell you where your DNA leads. I have done 2. One for my mitochondria DNA. That's all a female can do. That goes from mother to daughter. So that for me goes back to my grandmother Lucy and all the mothers before her. Then I did one for my brother Scott which took me back to the Bailey line. It is all so very interesting and I know you guys are interested in Family history so didn't know if you might be interested for the Simmons line. Lon you would be the only one who could get the Y chromosome for the Simmon's male. Arthur you could do it for your Bowie Line.
Let me tell you it is pricey, but well worth it. 2 years ago I did the one on me and it was around 100.00 but this year did Scott and it had gone up to 200.00. They have perfected the new one to tell you how much Neanderthal DNA is in you.haha. Most European lineages have about 2%. We only had 1.8% so not as much as most. The Bailey's always were pretty picky.ha.ha.
My mitochondrial DNA showed the ancient migration and ended where my DNA matches the most amount of people. For me that was in Norway and Scandinavia. Where that leads me is that I know that line later came from England so I can surmise that they then left Scandinavia as either Vikings or Saxons. In fact my 2 main lineages are English and German. Would be interesting Lon to see if that Simmons line goes back further than the Scottish line that we know. Wish they had this when Granddaddy Sax was alive and maybe my hunt for his mother Lucy Rottenberry could be solved.
Just thought I would let you guys know about that. I love it because it's interesting for me but also have something to share with my son Bailey. Hope all is good in your lives. All well here. Don't know if your on facebook but that is the only way anymore I connect. Take care. Leigh Ann
