Gene Edwin Simmons, 80, of Searcy, died Wednesday, November 23, 2011. He was born January 18, 1931 in Weldon, Arkansas, the son of William and Ruby Simmons. He was a member of the West Side Church of Christ in Searcy.

Mr. Simmons is survived by his wife, Wanda Reid Simmons of Searcy, two sons, Edwin Reid Simmons and his wife Cheryl and Eric Vaughn Simmons and his wife Joyce, both of Searcy, four granddaughters, Rebecca, Christyn, Rachel and Cami Simmons; one niece and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers, Bill and Bob Simmons, and two sisters, Emma Frances Steward and Wilma Elphingstone.

Graveside funeral services will be Saturday at 10:00 am at Sand Hill Cemetery in Auvergne, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 pm Friday at the Powell Funeral Home of Searcy.
