Note 1

James Kenneth Gibbs, 76, of Conway, went to be with his Lord on Friday, September 27, 2013. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, he was the son of Virgil James and Ethel Viola Gibbs.

James played football for both Conway High School and Arkansas State Teachers College (UCA). He retired from Exxon Corporation after 22 years of service. In 1957, as the Arkansas Heavy Weight Golden Gloves champion, he went on to win the Mid-South Regional Championship, which allowed him to fight in the National Championship competition, held in Chicago. James was a lifelong and active member of Second Baptist Church in Conway.

Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife of 51 years, Joy Holt Gibbs; son, James Kenneth Gibbs II (Ann Marie) of Little Rock; daughters: Dana Gibbs Daniel (Scott) of Little Rock, Andrea Gibbs Williamson (Greg) of Edmond, OK and Heidi Gibbs Lyon (Brad) of Fayetteville, AR; eleven grandchildren: Suzanna, Stevie and Liza Joy Gibbs, Julienne, Finley, Charles Walker and Dutch Daniel, Sydney, Eli and Malachi Williamson and Loxley Lyon; his sister, Mary E. Vollman and a host of extended family and friends.

Mr. Gibbs was preceded in death by a brother Virgil Alfred "Jr." Gibbs.

The family sends special thanks to everyone at C.A.R.T.I. in Conway and the doctors, nurses and staff at C.R.M.C., for the excellent care given to J. K. The Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 1,at Roller McNutt Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Dance officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to C.A.R.T.I. of Conway, 2302 College Ave., Conway, AR 72034
