Richard was born in 1842 in Lincoln County, Tennessee, the son of Stephen Clayton Flynt and Elizabeth Malinda Hall.[Note 2]
He died on 23 Dec 1898 in Lonoke County, Arkansas.
He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Susan Thomason, who he married on 17 Dec 1874 in Lonoke County, Arkansas. Their only known child was Robert Edgar (1875-1876).
His second wife was Mildred Thomason, who he married on 18 JAN 1877 in Lonoke County, Arkansas. Their six known children were Emma Estelle (1878-1912), Richard Milton (1880-1973), Susan Elizabeth (1882-1931), William Stephens (1885-1923), Louis Clayton (1888-1952) and Charles Fredrick (1891-1984).

Aug 2015 - Pretty good evidence that middle name is Milton found on delayed birth certificate of son Louis Clayton, signed by oldest son Richard Milton “Dixie” Flynt. Also Richard Milton on Application for headstone dated Sept 1930 by LC Flynt. Other typical sources, including both marriage cert, use only middle initial "M". Emma Flynt Bowie record book has Richard M Flynt 1842-1898, and Dixie as Richard Milton Flynt
Son Dixie, (RM jr) signed WWI draft registration card in 1918 and WW2 card in1942 as Richard Milton Flynt--but not junior..
