Remembering my Aunt Patty on this day marking the 8️⃣6️⃣th anniversary of her first appearance on life’s stage... Aunt Patty was the 13th of 14 children born to Rossie Belle (Rodgers) and Charlie Meacham... About two years out of high school and near the time her mother (my grandmother) died, Aunt Patty hopped on a bus and moved from Manila to Newport (just as her sister Lawana, my mother, had done about 8 years before) to live with our family... I was about 4 years old and sister Lana about 2 when she arrived... Aunt Patty went to work at First National Bank in Newport running the gigantic multi-pocket proof machine, which totally fascinated me... Subconsciously, I followed her footsteps into banking some 20 years later... Aunt Patty loved scary movies and introduced me to the likes of Frankenstein, Dracula, and the Werewolf, among other creatures lurking on late night television... She lived with us 6 years before getting married to Max O. Bowie, Sr. and had two children, Max Bowie, Jr. and Ann Breckenridge... Not long before I finished high school, the Bowie family moved to South Walnut Street just across the alley from us... Such a blessing for my mom to have her youngest sister so close for several years... Thinking of my Aunt Patty with love and adoration ❤️... Patsy Ann Meacham Bowie Fyles (3/7/1935 - 10/5/2013)

Note 2

the official diagnosis was stage IIIC Ovarian cancer - Adenocarcinoma with metastasis to omentum, chest, left axillary lymph nodes and mediastinum. The ascites biopsies all showed the fluid was full of large cell carcinoma...all throughout her abdominal/thoracic cavity.
