obit Mrs. Doris Bowie Mulholland, aged 66 of Monroe, La., formerly of Newport, died Friday. She was an Episcopalian.
Survivors are her husband, John Mulholland; a son, John M Mulholland of Cupertino Cal.; a daughter Alison Seaman of Westminister, Cal.; three brothers, Max Bowie of Newport, Billy Bowie of Augusta, and Bobby Bowie of Little Rock, and five grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 pm Tuesday at Walnut grove Cemetery at Newport by Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.

"Stand me on my head if that's what it takes!"
Wanted to be buried in Walnut Grove next to her parents despite lack of grave space.
She was insistant and said something to effect " Stand me on my head if that's what it takes!"
Billy and Mickey arranged for her to be buried in space orginally intended to be an asle between family plots bordered wtih concrete curb. Curb had been removed long ago for ease of maintenance.
After the grave side service, family gathered at Mickey's home on Walnut Street. Mul, Alison and Mike were all there. Mike raised a glass in memorial toast to "Mother Doris"

she was a member of a Sororiety, my notes are not clear, maybe Chi Omega or Pi Beta Phi
In 1980 letter, Doris said she was a "16" year old freshman at State Teachers when grandfather Ben F Simmons died (1 may 1939).. She was actually 19 when Ben F died.....
