DEATH 14 May 2000 (aged 79) Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas, USA

Dr. Robert M. Stainton, 79, of Little Rock, died Sunday in Little Rock. Born in Dierks, he graduated from Prescott High School and from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 1940. He received his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1944 and served in the U.S. Army until 1953 and later served 30 years in the Arkansas National Guard. Dr. Stainton had a private practice in Little Rock for many years before joining the staff at the Veterans Hospital where he worked for 20 years. He was medical director for the Arkansas Veterans Home at the time of death and was a long-time member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Y. Stainton and by a brother.

Survivors include three sons, Daniel Y. Stainton of Little Rock, Dr. Robert M Stainton Jr., and Dr. Joseph C. Stainton, both of Jonesboro; one daughter, Mary S. Stainton of Little Rock; one sister, Dorothy Garner of Prescott; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at noon in the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Ed Simpson officiating. Burial will be in the Carlisle Cemetery at Carlisle under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home of Little Rock. Memorials may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church of Little Rock or charity of the donor's choice.
