Rev. J. T. Mashburn, 95, of Brooksville, died Monday, Dec. 30th.2002 He was born in Calvary, Ga., and moved to this area 59 years ago. He graduated from Norman Park College and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
He served during World Warl II as a U. S. Army Lt. Colonel Chaplain under General Patton's 3rd Army and retired from the U.S. Army to become a Baptist Minister, Chaplain and Missionary serving in Louisiana, Florida, Virginia and many foreign countries. He was a Baptist by faith and a member of First Baptist Church, Brooksville.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherra Brown of Brooksville, two sons, George Thomas of Brooksville and Snell Simmons of St. Petersburg; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. The funeral service was held Friday, January 3, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Brooksville. Interment was in Brooksville Cemetery. Arrangements by Brewer & Sons Funeral Homes.
