Notes

Note 1

This baby girl was the daughter of Robert William Dieckmann and Donna Gail Vick. They were married at the First Lutheran Church in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas on 04 Nov 1951.

The baby was born while her father was serving in the United States armed forces. He was stationed at Fort Monmouth in New Jersey at that time. Tragically, the baby only lived for 15 minutes after her birth.

In addition to her parents, her survivors included her paternal grandparents, Robert Henry Dieckmann and Louise M. (nee Buenger) Dieckmann; her maternal grandparents, Roy Daviner Vick and Emma Annie (nee Finnigan) Vick; and many extended family members.

The baby's paternal grandmother traveled to New Jersey by train and brought the body home for burial. The family gathered in the church cemetery on 01 Aug 1953, though the parents were unable to attend.

The original headstone was engraved with the surname spelled Dieckman instead of Dieckmann, and the date of the burial. Plans have been made for a replacement stone.

Special note: With thanks and great appreciation to the sister of this little girl, who went to great lengths in 2021 to discover the full story.
