NAUGATUCK — John B. Beloin, 85, of Naugatuck, formerly of Bristol, died Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury after a brief illness. He was the husband of Jean (Sabio) Morrow Beloin.

Mr. Beloin was born February 28, 1928, in Bristol, son of the late Arthur and Nellie (Aquista) Beloin. He was a longtime Bristol resident before moving to Naugatuck, where he had lived for the past 10 years. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was retired from the Bristol Post Office where he worked for more than 30 years.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 17 and Elks Lodge 967 in Naugatuck.

Besides his wife, he leaves his daughters, Mary Ellen Morton and her husband, Anthony, and Hollis Laviero and her husband, Daniel R. Laviero, all of Bristol; two grandchildren, Melissa D'Orazio and Amanda Hoften and her husband, Daniel; two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Ryleigh Hoften; four stepsons, Francis Morrow and his partner, Ted Achenbach, of Harrisburg, Pa., Michael Morrow of Naugatuck, Steven Morrow and his wife, Cheryl, of Florida and Douglas Morrow of Harwinton; two stepdaughters, Linda Clavette and her husband, Ken, and Kathleen Morrow, all of Naugatuck; 12 step-grandchildren, one step-great-granddaughter; his step-brother-in-law, James Sabio and his wife, Linda, of Naugatuck, and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his grandson, Brock D'Orazio, and sister, Lee Zaremba.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Monday, January 6, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Friends are asked to meet directly at the church at 8:45 a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery on Terryville Avenue, Bristol. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, January 5, at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck. Members of the Naugatuck Veteran's Council will assemble at 7:15 p.m. The Elks ritual will take place at 7:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Healthcare HOPE Team, 50 Brookside Dr., Waterbury 06708; or in honor of a family member to Muscular Dystrophy, 3300 East Sunrise Dr., Tucson, Ariz. 85718.
