Richard Wade Nowlin was born in Pittsylvania County, Virginia and migrated to Missouri around 1836. He was married to Selah Shelton and lived off Hwy N in Sections 24 and 25. He had a large family, many of which came to Missouri as well. They married into many Ray and Clay county families such as McCroskie, Wyman, Craven, Clevenger, Bates, Brooks, names you see in this cemetery. He was an honorable man who is remembered today. His daughter, Adelia Pauline, was my ggg grandmother.
