Mrs. George W. Walker, pioneer Rockdale County woman, died late Wednesday night at her home near Conyers, following a short illness. She was 93 years of age.

Mrs. Walker was the former Miss Julia Tucker. She was a member of the Rockdale Baptist Church, and until her retirement from public life, took active part in both social and religious activities in the county. She was the oldest resident and one of the most beloved women in the county.

Funeral services were held on Friday from the Rockdale Baptist Church at 4:00 o'clock. Interment was in the Smyrna cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. W.S. Adams, assisted by Rev. J.L. Drake.

Mrs. Walker is survived by 11 children, A.F. Walker, I.M. Walker, Mrs. W.H. Granade, Mrs. G.S. Potts, C.C. Walker, Miss Georgia Walker, all of Conyers; E.T. Walker, of Roanoke, Va.; L.N. Walker and Mrs. L.L. Dodson of Atlanta; Mrs. R.R. Champion, of Greensboro; J.E. Walker of Hickory, N.C.; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Bartow Walker; 41 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Walker Potts, Eli Walker, Norman Walker, James Granade, Paul McKinney, Clarence Hardeman, James Granade, Calvin Potts.
